# Managing Downline Agencies

White Swan supports not only individual agents and agencies but also intermediaries such as MGAs, MGUs, FMOs, IMOs, BGAs, PEOs, BDs, RIAs, and affinity groups. The way that we work with intermediaries come in many different shapes and forms, but generally is centered around providing intermediaries with the ability to easily control and manage agencies under them.

***

**Example use cases**:

• For intermediaries that are not primarily active in the life insurance industry, such as property & casualty MGAs, White Swan may offer a way for their downline agencies to start offering life insurance with minimum fuss through the Digital Agent Plan or the Concierge Plan.

• For intermediaries primarily active in the life insurance industry, such as BGAs, White Swan may offer a more streamlined way for their downlines to write life insurance while allowing them to retain their existing contracting under the Innovator Plan.

***

**Implementation flexibility:**

Working with White Swan as an intermediary comes with a lot of flexibility, and partnerships are often started with a period of building custom functionality to fit the needs of the intermediary. This may include things like offering special plans for downline agencies to access the platform with special compensation terms, for example where full commissions are paid to the upline who later distributes commissions to downlines independently. To see more current capabilities, see [Downline Settings](/partner-knowledge-base/platform-overview/managing-downline-agencies/downline-settings.md).

**Control and observe:**

White Swan makes it easy for intermediaries to access cases, commissions, and agency information about agents and agencies under them. Additionally, it allows intermediaries to control their downlines access to various platform functionality, and can also set up integrations on the behalf of downlines (for example the Paperclip Integration, which allows for all downline application packages to flow through [Paperclip](/partner-knowledge-base/other-direct-integrations/paperclip.md) to your AMS or carrier submission pipeline.

Intermediaries have the ability to keep track of downlines in the White Swan platform both via the [Downline Dashboard](/partner-knowledge-base/platform-overview/managing-downline-agencies/downline-dashboard.md) as well as via our API, which can be used to [Onboard Agencies](/partner-knowledge-base/api-documentation/action-calls/onboard-agency.md) smoothly, fetch [Downline](/partner-knowledge-base/api-documentation/information-calls/downline-s.md)/[Commission Line Items](/partner-knowledge-base/api-documentation/information-calls/commission-line-item-s.md)/[Payouts](/partner-knowledge-base/api-documentation/information-calls/payout-s.md)/[Plan Request](/partner-knowledge-base/api-documentation/information-calls/plan-request-s.md) data, and receive data via webhooks for [Downline Events](/partner-knowledge-base/api-documentation/webhooks/downline-events.md)/[Commission Line Item Events](/partner-knowledge-base/api-documentation/webhooks/commission-line-item-events.md)/[Payout Events](/partner-knowledge-base/api-documentation/webhooks/payout-events.md).

In conclusion, White Swan's intermediary capabilities, which you'll learn more about in the coming pages, is a set of enterprise functionalities that makes it easy to unlock and streamline life insurance distribution for your network of agencies.
